Mecca - My Experience + Too Faced Melted Kisses Swatches

It's been a long time since my last post, thanks in part to being busier and also being a lazy person.  I recently moved house and my internet is back up and running so what better time to get back into my posts than today.

I wanted to make a quick post about my experience ordering online from Mecca - a popular makeup chain in Australia that stocks a lot of the harder to get brands here such as Stila, Too Faced & Hourglass. Honestly I'm not really a massive fan of the chain as it's subject to the "Australia Tax" which covers luxury goods meaning that most products are very expensive and often cheaper to import, their reasoning is that the service and loyalty program make it worth it, I don't agree.

That said, every now and then they do have good deals on certain products, mostly Christmas sets.  I decided to jump on a couple of gorgeous little Too Faced sets and was actually really pleased with the overall experience.

First of all, I placed my order some time ago on a Saturday evening.  I received this parcel the following Tuesday in such a gorgeous box.  As they ship via courier, it came very quickly and was handled very carefully.

Inside the box, my items were wrapped neatly in tissue paper and my invoice was in a little Mecca envelope, I found this level of care and detail very charming!

The goodies!  I ordered the Melted Kisses mini set and the Christmas Party Must-Haves set.  When placing an order online I was able to choose three samples.  Sadly none of them were makeup related so I settled on two perfumes and a serum.

More pictures because why the hell not.  Too Faced just has the cutest packaging with such detail put in, it's quickly becoming my new favourite brand as far as it's brand identity and marketing goes.

Lazy arm swatches, check out that lovely pigment after one smooth slick!  I promise I'll do some lip ones soon. From top left to bottom right: Melted Nude, Melted Peony, Melted Fuchsia & Melted Berry. After these swatches I totally wanted to disregard Melted Nude, it looked looks more like some smeared peanut butter in person but I'm glad I gave it a go because it turns out peanut butter is actually a good colour for me.

For some strange reason, Melted Peony looks terrible on my lips, it clings to any tiny bit of dry lip and settles like crazy into every line on my lips.  I've found the best formula was Melted Fuchsia aka Malibu Stacy.

In conclusion, if you can justify buying from Mecca, I would recommend grabbing things from their online store.  The care taken with your order lives up to the luxe image that they're trying to convey and the free samples are always a nice bonus.  I was not disappointed at all and if I see an item again, I'll more than likely opt to buy it online rather than in store (plus, shipping is free for orders $75+ which is quite reasonable given the cost of their stock)

  1. I'm totally jealous, I really really wish I'd picked up the Melted set before they all sold out. Such great value. I had hoped DH would pick up the Carousel, but that sold out quickly near us too. Great to hear their online store was such a good experience too!

    1. It's a shame that they don't get more stock of the Christmas sets here :( BeautyBay has some of the full sized ones for reasonably cheap though if you're interested :) I'm regretting not grabbing the Carousel either, it is so gorgeous!
